Postpartum recovery

You had a baby. You deserve real recovery — not just "you're cleared at six weeks"

A standard postpartum check confirms you're healing. It isn't the same as a full evaluation of how your core and pelvic floor are actually functioning. That's where we come in — and yes, your baby is always welcome in the room.

You might be experiencing

  • Leaking when you sneeze, laugh, or run
  • A feeling of heaviness or pressure
  • C-section scar tightness or numbness
  • Pain with intercourse
  • Low back, hip, or pelvic pain

Why this happens

Pregnancy and birth — vaginal or cesarean — change the length, strength, and coordination of your core and pelvic floor. None of that resolves automatically just because time has passed. A real evaluation looks at the whole picture: how you're healing, how your body moves, and what's actually causing your symptoms.

How we treat it

Your plan is built around your specific delivery and recovery — core and pelvic floor strengthening, scar tissue mobilization if you had a c-section or tearing, and a clear progression back to the activities you want to return to.

I am now 5 months postpartum and feel better than ever! Dr. Jill took the time to listen to my concerns about returning to work, and we worked together to strengthen and build confidence in my body. I also don't pee my pants anymore when I laugh or cough.

Common questions

Can I bring my baby to my appointment?
Yes — we're a family-friendly clinic, and babies and kids are always welcome in the room.
How soon after birth can I start?
It varies. We would love to see you in the clinic as soon as you feel ready. You do not need to be cleared by your birth provider to begin treatment with us. Our pelvic floor specialists are able to tailor the evaluation and session to exactly where you are in your postpartum recovery.
Should I come even if I'm not having any symptoms?
Yes, we love helping women take a proactive approach with their health. Our skilled physical therapists will assess where your pelvic floor, core, and body are at in your postpartum recovery, and provide guidance on how to return to activity safely. This helps prevent any pelvic floor issues like leaking, prolapse, or pain from developing.
Do you treat c-section scars even if it's been years?
Yes — scar tissue can be treated effectively long after the original surgery, even if it's been a while since delivery.
